Africa’s Business Revolution
Date & Time: Wednesday 5 December, 18:30 – 20:00, followed by a reception
Venue: Brunei Gallery Lecture Theatre, SOAS
With a population of 1.2 billion that is projected to double in the next three decades, Africa presents investors with vast opportunities. By 2025, spending by African consumers and businesses will exceed $5 trillion, and by 2035, Africa will have the world’s largest urban population and a workforce bigger than that of China or India. There is no doubt that huge potential exists, but how do companies seize these opportunities for building and expanding profitable businesses?
With in-depth case studies and exclusive interviews with some of Africa’s most prominent executives, Africa’s Business Revolution offers a wealth of stories of those who have built successful businesses on the continent. Authors Acha Leke, Musta Chironga and Georges Desvaux draw on in-depth proprietary research by the McKinsey Global Institute as well as McKinsey’s extensive experience advising corporate and government leaders across Africa. Join us for a book launch and a discussion on the topic with a distinguished panel of guest speakers, hosted by the Royal African Society.
Speakers:
Geetha Tharmaratnam, Partner – Africa & Head of Impact, LGT Impact
Hakeem Belo-Osagie, Chairman, Metis Capital Partners
Daudi Lelijveld, Fund Manager of CDC’s Impact Fund
and others to be announced.
Moderator: Dr Nicholas Westcott, Director, Royal African Society
